Dear Mackenzie,
Tomorrow is your first birthday. The house has been stirring all week getting ready for this special day. Gabrielle has told the whole town that you are gonna be one and you're having a ladybug party. Even the checkout lady at the grocery store knows.
I've been tearing up all week thinking about writing this letter to you. You were definitely not planned but the best things in life happen when you aren 't expecting them too. I remember the day I got the positive test like it was a moment ago. I could not believe I was pregnant again. We waited years for your Sissy to come and we had no idea we could be blessed so soon again. Daddy didn't believe it either...he made me take two more tests when I got home.
I was convinced you were a boy. I even gave you a name, Beck. I just felt different this time around, more relaxed more at peace. I should have known that it was just your personality. Even while you were growing inside of me I knew you were a special soul.
The day you were born was so perfect. I was calm (as much as could be expected) and daddy was excited. Not that nervous, stomach ache excited just giddy. We welcomed you with tears and laughter just like you deserved to be.
You have always been so easy. Besides your daddy, you are the most laid back person I've ever known. You wake with a smile and I look forward to that every day. Your days are filled with smiles and laughter and I love that most about you. Your nights end with cuddling and singing. Daddy and I still rock you to sleep every night because we love that time with you, one on one. You have the biggest, most loving heart.
Sissy adores you as well. She always looks around to make sure you are right next to her by her side. She's excited to teach you about life and I think that will be ongoing. Just get used to it and let her have her way, she's pretty bossy like that. You think she's the bomb and I think that will be ongoing as well. You both are and will be best friends, sisters and companions.
Right now you are singing along with us. You know Itsy Bitsy Spider and The Wheels on the Bus. When I get home in the evenings, I give you a big hug and pat you on the back. You've started to pat me on the back to and say, "Awe." You give kisses and blow them. You smile when something is funny and when it is not and you love for us to chase you. You are not walking yet but it's coming soon. I think it is probably because you don't have to, between Daddy, Sissy and I we do everything for you. You are the baby and always will be.
I love you more than life doll. You are me and Sissy and Daddy's joy every single day. We are so lucky to have you in our lives and I know you feel the same about us. Tomorrow will be just as we all planned for you, perfect. I hope you have a very Happy Birthday sweet Kenz.
Love,
Mama
