We're Knight's That's Right!

It has been suggested (thanks Nana) that I document some of the things Bebe' loves. Since I do not have time or energy to actually write in a book, I blog. Now I know some of you are thinking that your baby gifts i.e. baby books/calendars are not getting used and I'm sorry to admit it but, they're not. I. have. failed. I do want you to know that I had every intention of using them but being a first time mama I glorified the amount time I would realistically have. I even remember telling some of my friends that being at home with her for twelve weeks would force me to get a hobby. I got a hobby alright! I am not kidding people, that's how naive I was in the beginning. That subject is a whole other post. Moving on.

Bebe' has a fond love of TV. I always have had one and so has Blake so I would suspect that the universe knew what they were doing when they gave us a child that loves cartoons like she does. I remember Blake and I fantasizing about the day when she would wake up on a Saturday morning, lay in our bed and watch cartoons with us. That day, although we imagined her being older, has come. The really wonderful thing about that is that we never knew we would spend the whole morning lying in bed watching her watch cartoons. We do. We watch her expressionless, zoned out cute little face and smile at each other the whole time.

She is not a snob when it comes to TV, she'll watch whatever is on but her all time favorites right now are The Backyardigans and The Wonder Pets. Johnny and the Sprites gets her a little amped up but nothing like the other two. Perfect example...Monday night Bebe' was whinny and tired. Her first tooth has push out of the gums but is not completely out yet so I knew she didn't feel good. Nothing I did pleased her and her paci wasn't doing the trick so after a dose of tylenol, we stood in front of the TV cheek to cheek and watched Noggin while she whimpered and whined.

The new Backyardigans "We're Knights that's Right" song came on in the form of a music video. She immediately stopped whining and became wide-eyed and silent. She looked at me a gave me a smile. I couldn't actually see the smile b/c she had the paci in her mouth but I could tell she was smiling by her eyes. She kicked her legs in excitement and we sang along with the song. It is really cute for those of you who haven't seen it. Her favorite lines are "We're never ever rude, always polite. Our knightly skills are out of sight. We're knights that's right!" I say her favorite but really, those are the ones Blake and I sing over and over again because we have watched the DVD way too many times to actually count.

Her other favorite show, The Wonder Pets, gets her just as excited. When she hears the phone ring and pets start singing, "The phone, the phone is ringing" she goes nuts. In fact, she recognizes them so much that when ever she is crying for what ever reason on any given day I can start singing the song and she will smile every time. We let her hold the Ming Ming doll in Walmart...the new one that sings their song and she loved it! They could be saving dryer lint and she would think it was wonderful.

Other things besides TV that Bebe' adores include: sweet potatoes, cold applesauce, balls of any kind, outside, her silk pillow, Layla (although she won't give Gabrielle the time of day), Chili and Rose (my mom's dogs), Dada's funny faces and when Mama sings to her. Ahh, these are the days.
