Comedy hour at the doctor's office

Ok, so Thursday Mami' and I took bebe' to the doctor for her 6 month check up. Mami' picked her up from the sitter, changed her clothes and met me there so I could save a trip and leave work a little later. I arrive at the office and of course my mom has made friends with a mom and her three older (7-10) boys. One of the boys had a strong fascination with Gabrielle and was full of questions. Most were harmless until towards the end. You could tell there was no thought, just a blurted out question which (I now know) is usually the case with children. He asked, "Does she nurse?" I couldn't speak. I don't know why it shocked me, but I was embarrassed and just looked down. His mother quickly told him that was personal and he shouldn't ask those sorts of questions. My mom hurries and says, "No, it is a GREAT question!" and looks at me who is still staring down at my phone in my lap like I'm doing something really important on it. I looked up long enough to say, "No." The little boy then says, "Oh, my kitty nurses." His mom was mortified! I then remembered this is stuff Daniel used to tell people and I used to think that was hilarious. I smiled and had myself a little giggle.

Another family came in to sit down and the mother had a five year old boy (I know b/c he told us as soon as he sat down) and a two week old baby girl. Of course, mom and I were staring at the baby and talking baby talk with the mom. Gabrielle loved the little boy. She started screaming in excitement I'm assuming to get his attention. It worked! He said in a very aggravated tone, "Your baby is yelling and waking my baby up!" His mother told him to be quiet and stop saying that b/c his baby was fine. I for some reason, I thought it was hilarious and couldn't stop laughing which I guess made him angry and he then got me back by saying, "Look how big that baby's belly is!" His mom then started laughing...nervously. He read the situation and pointed to a baby in the magazine but I so know what he was really talking about! I just kept laughing. I mean what is there to do at that point?

Bebe' weighed in at a whopping...16.4 pounds!! No wonder that little boy commented on my baby's belly!! Believe it or not, she is in the 50th percentile for her weight and 50-75 for her height which was 26 inches. To be honest I really don't get the percentile business and I'm pretty sure it's because I'm too lazy to actually think about it but the doctor said she is normal so that's all I care about. She had four shots including her flu shot. She was so pitiful but she looked darn cute!!
